Reading comprehension is the most important skill when learning a second language. However, finding suitable material can be a problem with many books being too long and complicated. These short story dual readers solve that problem. The story is presented in three ways.
Firstly, with both German and English, the English translation here is literal – word for word – which enables the reader to get the gist of the story whilst further study of the text will show word structure and other grammatical points. At the end of the story is a list of 50 questions which the reader is encouraged to answer out loud to help compose sentences and practice pronunciation. These questions can also be used as a writing exercise.
Secondly, there is a complete German version which the reader can go through to see if a full understand can be had.
And thirdly, an English translation with the 50 questions in English.
This book is the third in a series of short progressive tales for beginners learning German. The stories are old classics that have been written in the simplest manner possible, and every new word introduced has purposely been repeated frequently to ensure that it is remembered.

I am really loving these fantastic English-German books! They're really helping me to get my head around the language!The books themselves are great little stories that you can really enjoy more than once! This is the third one I have read now and I'm looking forward to reading the fourth! It's disappointing that there are only four of these - I can't help but want more!
I love that the book is in both English and German and that both languages are side by side throughout one section, then the full story can be read fully in both languages. It helps you to pick out certain words and phrases as you go through! I also really enjoy the 50 set questions at the end of the book that you can answer to see how much you've really learnt through reading the book!
Really really helpful for anyone wanting to learn German!
